Artist: Carolyn Liu

Hello! My name is Carolyn Liu from Long Island, New York. I am an artist for Leaders in

Wildlife Conservation. When I was little, I lived in Beijing for a while and witnessed the

devastations of pollution first hand. After coming back to the United States, I began to take an

interest in school courses on science such as biology and environmental science. My grandpa’s

dedication as a professor in environmental engineering in Beijing motivated and inspired me as

well. Currently, I am focusing on my goal to become an OB/GYN surgeon in the future. The healthcare workers and my mom, who works as a nurse in New York City, sparked my interest in medicine after I witnessed their courage to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with my friends who share the same enthusiasm for the medical field, we founded the Pre-Med Club in my school. When I saw a recruitment for artists on Instagram posted by Eric, the Executive Director of LIWC, I filled out the application immediately in hopes of contributing to his excellent cause. The intriguing idea of drawing to explore the conditions of wildlife species around the world captivated me and motivated me to combine the fiery forces of my imagination and wildlife conservation. This opportunity also allows me to venture beyond my comfort zone and dive into the various mediums in art that I have yet to try––all for a good cause.
