Leaders in Wildlife Conservation
Section 1. General Purpose:
Inspired by the devastating impacts of the Australian Bushfires, we started the Leaders in Wildlife Conservation to spread the relevance of wildlife protection and environmental conservation. We seek to exert our strengths and influences as young journalists to spread awareness for animal rights and habitat protection. We post daily blogs and wildlife news on our website as well as on our social media platforms. It is our mission to connect and inspire people worldwide to protect our planet's most valuable resource––our biodiversity.
Section 1. Eligibility for Membership
Applicants must complete the google form application (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScyQbR3k4iJePlTC4m2hYNELlIWKZAZY77SuYQd53JB9AHFbg/viewform) where applicants are required to fill out their full name, email address, as well as their strengths that will help the organization function. To be considered for admissions, applicants must be willing to submit at least one blog article per week, no matter the position, unless informed by members of the executive committee.
Section 2. Responsibilities of Members
All members are required to write at least one article each week for the website regarding the environment and wildlife conservation. Members are also required to read all of our blog posts to avoid repetition of content. In addition, members should also like all of our social media posts. Members who surpass our standards and consistently write articles will be featured as star members on the website or even be eligible for promotion (see section 5). It is also their responsibility to express any questions, concerns, or advice in the group chat, which will be discussed and publicly addressed by the executive committee. Additionally, members’ responsibilities can shift as their roles can be changed by the executive committee.
Section 3. Rights of Members
The executive committee members are required to attend weekly Zoom meetings. Our general group chat on Instagram will enable open communication between all members of the organization. Members are allowed to express their opinions and concerns through this chat.
Section 4. Resignation and Termination
Members are terminated if they are unable to meet the weekly criteria of submitting one article per week on their assigned day promptly at 8PM. As a member of the executive committee, failure to attend at least one zoom meeting per week will result in demotion. Exceptions can be granted by the Chief Executive Officer and we hope to be lenient to responsible members.
Section 5. Promotions and Advancements
Members are encouraged to consistently submit concise and well-researched essays over 700 words to be considered for promotion. The organization’s team of editors will detail to the chief editor a comprehensive report of each member’s article based on lingual engagement, grammar, and extent of factual research. The chief editor will then assess the final review of the quality of work and report to the executive committee. Members could help the recruitment effort by promoting the organization. The observance of such efforts will lead to opportunities for promotion as the organization expands.
Each committee has a director that will oversee the activities of members of the committee. The directors of the committees form the executive committee as the board of this organization.
Section 1. Committee Formation
The executive committee may create committees as needed, such as fundraising, content, communications, website, and social media, etc. The executive committee appoints all committee directors.
Section 2. Executive Committee
The director of each committee serves as the members of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is responsible for amendments of the bylaw, business plan, and all shared documents. Members of the executive committee are responsible for reporting activities of their respective committees to the executive director in weekly meetings.
Section 3. Finance Committee
The director of finance is the head of the Finance Committee. The Finance Committee is responsible for collecting contributions from donors. For each fundraising project, the board must declare the purpose for the money raised and discuss the project with members of the Executive Committee. The financial records of the organization are public information and shall be made available to the members, directors, and the public.
Section 4. Content Committee
The Content Committee is responsible for the creation of content for the organizations’ website, in the form of blogs and video productions. Members’ blogs are to be shared and checked over by our group of editors and approved by our chief editor. Upon revision, blogs are to be passed onto the Technology Committee for posting.
Section 5. Outreach Committee
The Outreach Committee is responsible for representing our organization when reaching out to external organizations. Members of this committee are expected to draft emails and communicate with organizations regarding potential projects and updates. The director of the outreach committee should report to the executive committee for approval of partnerships and projects.
Section 6. Technology Committee
The Technology Committee is responsible for maintaining the website and publishing blog posts and video productions. They should receive the blogs and other forms of production from the Content Committee and publish the daily article in a timely fashion (before 8 PM EST). The members are also expected to keep the pages of the website well-maintained and updated. Members will also be responsible for reaching out to other organizations through social media to create social ties for the purpose of cross promotions. This committee will run our various social media platforms, including Instagram and YouTube.
We, the undersigned, are all of the initial directors or incorporators of this organization, and we consent to, and hereby do, adopt the foregoing Bylaws, consisting of the preceding pages, as the Bylaws of the Leaders in Wildlife Conservation Organization.
